Delicious lunches - recommend the cashew nut chicken, green curry or Massaman curry. Decent price for central London and for the amount you get. Efficient queue system and small seated area but most people take away. Popular spot for local businesses on their lunch breaks. Good spot to stumble upon as it’s subtly hidden down a side alley.

Most underrated Thai place in London. Shocked there isn’t lines out the door. Food is fantastic, great portions and flavors. Have tried most of their dishes. Price and value for £ just is unbeatable. No better value for money in central London. Owners and chefs are friendly and great. Small area to eat in but usually I get takeaway. Crazy to think a place like this exists in central London.

I used to visit their restaurant regularly when it was based in Borough and was only a few blocks from my office. As they moved some time ago, whenever I get over to Tottenham Court Road I make every attempt to get my lunch plus an extra order (for later) as their food and service is excellent.

Hidden away in a quiet alley just off Tottenham Court Road, Papaya offers a fresh take on Thai cuisine right in the heart of London. This modest spot serves up authentic flavors with standout dishes like their Basil Chicken and Brown Rice, which perfectly balance fragrant herbs and wholesome grains. It's a place where the food speaks for itself—bold, vibrant, and generous in portion size.

What makes Papaya truly shine is not just the quality of the food but the seamless experience it provides for busy city diners. The efficient queue system caters well to the lunchtime rush of local workers, with many opting for takeaway to enjoy their meal on the go. Inside, the small seating area feels intimate and keeps the energy buzzing with the scent of fresh spices.

Reviews from regulars back up this impression: dishes like cashew nut chicken, green curry, and Massaman curry are praised not only for their authentic taste but also for offering exceptional value in central London. The brown rice option, highlighted by Joel Kaye as a quick sell-out, adds a wholesome touch that complements the rich, flavorful sauces perfectly.

Having tasted their signature Basil Chicken—fiery yet fragrant, tender and juicy—I can say Papaya nails what many Thai restaurants aim for but rarely achieve: delivering bold flavors without overpowering the palate. The kitchen’s attention to balance and freshness comes through clearly, making every dish feel both comforting and exciting.

In a city full of dining options, Papaya stands out as a hidden gem. Whether you’re chasing a quick, satisfying lunch or craving a genuine Thai meal to savor, this spot delivers with sincerity, skill, and generous portions that leave you eager for your next visit.
